Glossary
Despite the fact that ecoculture is an ancient practice, we know that there’s some novel and niche terminology being thrown around on this website. Here are some definitions.
Ecoculture - The cultivations of food, medicine, materials, and other useful products in the context of natural ecosystems. Essentially, it is ecological restoration with a focus on food.
Biodiversity - How many different species (plants, fungi, animals, and even bacteria) are present in an ecosystem. This is broadly used as an indicator of ecosystem health.
Ecological Restoration - The practice of restoring a degraded natural ecosystem to its highest possible biodiversity and health. The possibilities for ecological restoration for certain ecosystems depends on the level of historical degradation.
Economic Viability - A business which is capable of sustaining itself and providing a good source of livelihood for its workers, given its revenues and expenses.
